Founder and co-owner at EPIC Sports Centre and EPIC Sports Medicine, Dr. Chris Chant is a highly accomplished Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon, renowned for his expertise in sports medicine. With a foundation rooted in sport, Dr. Chant completed a kinesiology degree as well as a master’s degree in Sports Medicine at Western University as he excelled as the captain of the university baseball team, showcased his athletic prowess with the London Majors Baseball Club and shone on the ice with the Junior B hockey team in his hometown of Brockville and Junior C hockey team in Woodstock while attending university.
After completing medical school down under while playing in the semi-professional Australian Ice Hockey League, Dr. Chant returned to London to complete his orthopaedic surgical training at Western University, then his sports surgery fellowship at the prestigious Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic. He has worked closely with Hockey Canada as the team physician for their U17 and U18 men’s programs as well as an orthopaedic consultant for the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights Hockey Club.
Currently, Dr. Chant is the Chief of Surgery at Middlesex Hospital Alliance and serves as the team physician for the Strathroy Rockets Junior B hockey team and the London Majors Baseball Club. Dr. Chant's commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by his recent completion of a Surgical Leadership certificate course at Harvard University, emphasizing nontechnical executive skills for leadership in healthcare and business.
