For the 2026/27 season, EPIC Hockey Academy will ice one team: the EPIC Hockey Academy 18U AAA Prep Team made up of 2008, 2009 and 2010 born players. The team will play in one of Canada’s elite leagues, the Junior Prospects Hockey League (JPHL). Founded on the ethos of promoting sportsmanship, skill advancement, and a passion for the game, the JPHL prides itself on being more than just a league—it's a nurturing ground for budding talents. Embracing a commitment to excellence, the league strives to create an environment where players not only refine their athletic abilities but also cultivate camaraderie and character.

Elite Performance Center Program Overview

The EPIC Hockey Academy is structured to mirror the intensity and professionalism of a junior hockey program. We offer our players a comprehensive pathway to develop their game and compete at the highest level.

Athletes will train a minimum of four times per week, featuring back-to-back ice and gym sessions on the same day. This holistic approach builds strength, endurance and skill while fostering both mental and physical development. All off-ice training will be under the supervision of EPIC’s Director of Strength & Conditioning Trevor Williamson. In addition to the primary coaching staff, players will also benefit from on-ice sessions with elite skills coaches who provide specialized training to accelerate individual growth. EPIC is fortunate to have Paul Gibson and the Goalie Detail team overseeing goaltender development as well as Kathy McLlwain as EPIC’s high performance skating coach.

Our team competes and plays in 48+ games including exhibition, regular season, playoffs and at least 4 showcase tournaments. We will also be engaged in a series of exhibition crossovers with other high-level AAA programs and participate in additional showcase tournaments as a guest team, ensuring our players gain maximum exposure.

The team will travel by bus a majority of the time, with a flight scheduled for certain showcases (where appropriate). Bus travel and team dinners will be provided by the team. All other travel, meals and accommodation will be at the expense of each family.

While players will follow a demanding schedule, including up to 20 home games and frequent travel, we will continue to maintain a strong focus on education, rest and personal downtime. This balanced lifestyle is crucial for players to excel in both the classroom and on the ice, while also serving as leaders in the community.

Education

All EPIC Sports Hockey Academy students needing to complete their secondary school education will do so at the Academy for Student Athlete Development (ASAD).

ASAD is a specialized program that integrates elite athletic training with top-tier academic support. ASAD’s mission is to deliver a high performance program that goes beyond the field of play, empowering individuals to achieve personal goals in athletic performance, academics and life. ASAD works in collaboration with a team of experts at EPIC and leaders in the Canadian Sport system to create a dedicated training environment where student athletes can elevate their game.

Student athletes attend ASAD for half of their school day with the remaining half day being spent at the student’s homeschool, within the partnering school boards, Thames Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic School Board, giving the student a fulsome secondary school experience. Student timetables are established in collaboration with the ASAD Guidance Teacher and home school guidance departments. Student athletes will participate in two technical on-ice skills sessions and three strength and conditioning sessions per week with qualified coaches. This is in addition to the two team practices and two additional strength and conditioning sessions delivered through the team program.
