Welcome to EPIC Sports Hockey Academy, the premier destination for elite hockey development in Southwestern Ontario. At EPIC Sports Hockey Academy, we are dedicated to fostering top-tier hockey talent and creating clear pathways for aspiring athletes to reach their goals. Our mission is to revolutionize hockey development in the region and beyond.
More than just a training program, EPIC Sports Hockey Academy is a thriving community built on the principles of dedication, perseverance, leadership and a true passion for the game. With access to cutting-edge facilities, exposure to high-level competition and personalized support every step of the way, we are committed to empowering every player to achieve their dreams and excel both on and off the ice.
For the 2025/26 season, EPIC Sports Hockey Academy will ice two teams:
Both teams will play out of the United Tier 1 Hockey League with the 16U AAA team also playing in the North American Prep Hockey League and the 18U AAA team also playing in the United States Premier Hockey League. Both teams will also play in the CCM Motown Detroit tournament in October.
The EPIC Sports Hockey Academy is structured to mirror the intensity and professionalism of a junior hockey program. We offer our players a comprehensive pathway to develop their game and compete at the highest level.
Athletes will train a minimum of four times per week, featuring back-to-back ice and gym sessions on the same day. This holistic approach builds strength, endurance and skill while fostering both mental and physical development. All off-ice training will be under the supervision of EPIC’s Director of Strength & Conditioning Trevor Williamson. In addition to the primary coaching staff, players will also benefit from on-ice sessions with elite skills coaches who provide specialized training to accelerate individual growth.
Our team competes and plays in 60+ games including exhibition, regular season, playoffs and at least 4 showcase tournaments. We will also be engaged in a series of exhibition crossovers with other high-level AAA programs and participate in additional showcase tournaments as a guest team, ensuring our players gain maximum exposure.
The team will travel by bus a majority of the time, with a flight scheduled for certain showcases (where appropriate). Bus travel and team dinners will be provided by the team. All other travel, meals and accommodation will be at the expense of each family.
While players will follow a demanding schedule, including at least 20 home games and frequent travel, we will continue to maintain a strong focus on education, rest and personal downtime. This balanced lifestyle is crucial for players to excel in both the classroom and on the ice, while also serving as leaders in the community.
Additional clothing is available for purchase. EPIC Sports Hockey Academy teams are CCM branded teams, with exclusive discounts provided through CCM for players to purchase additional hockey equipment.
All EPIC Sports Hockey Academy students needing to complete their secondary school education will do so at the Academy for Student Athlete Development (ASAD).
ASAD is a specialized program that integrates elite athletic training with top-tier academic support. ASAD’s mission is to deliver a high performance program that goes beyond the field of play, empowering individuals to achieve personal goals in athletic performance, academics and life. ASAD works in collaboration with a team of experts at EPIC and leaders in the Canadian Sport system to create a dedicated training environment where student athletes can elevate their game.
Student athletes attend ASAD for half of their school day with the remaining half day being spent at the student’s homeschool, within the partnering school board, Thames Valley District School Board, giving the student a fulsome secondary school experience. Student timetables are established in collaboration with the ASAD Guidance Teacher and home school guidance departments. Student athletes will participate in two 75 min technical sessions and three 75 min strength and conditioning sessions per week with a qualified coach. This is in addition to the two team practices and two additional strength and conditioning sessions delivered through the team programs.
