Ryan Brown brings a comprehensive hockey background to the EPIC Hockey Academy, having built his career across every level of the game - as a player, a scout, and a coach.
Ryan began his playing career at the AAA level within Alliance Hockey, suiting up for the Lambton Jr. Sting, London Jr. Knights, and Elgin Middlesex Canucks. He later advanced to Junior A and B with the Trenton Golden Hawks, St. Thomas Stars, St. Marys Lincolns, and London Nationals across the OJHL and GOHL.
After COVID-19 brought an end to his playing career, he decided to revisit his second passion, baseball, and walked on to the varsity men's baseball team at the University of Guelph. He was named team captain in his final season and helped the Gryphons capture an OUA Bronze Medal. He was also a three-time OUA All-Academic. He graduated with a BA Honours in History and a Marketing minor, and was a four-year member of the Dean's Honour Society.
Since graduating, Ryan has established himself on the scouting and player development side of the game. He currently serves as an Ontario Regional Scout for the London Knights of the OHL and as an Amateur Scout with The Pro Hockey Group. He has also spent the past three seasons coaching U16 and U18 AAA with the Guelph Jr. Gryphons. Alongside that, he served as Video Development Coordinator for the Guelph Jr. Gryphons' U14, U15, U16, and U18 AAA programs, providing players across the organization with comprehensive development through video analysis.
At EPIC Hockey Academy, Ryan is committed to helping players develop the skills required to reach the next level of the game. He believes in treating the player as a person first and an athlete second. By teaching players to recognize the patterns that emerge from a position-specific perspective, he aims to help them think less and play faster and more instinctively. Above all, he looks forward to sharing the genuine joy for the game that has shaped his own path in hockey.
